Winter Updates:

Within the next week or two, Shore Volleyball Academy hopes to have registration available for our Club Alternative Program.  This program is for girl's and combined practices with our experienced staff, open gyms, and mini-tournaments.  Opening registration early, despite the program not formally starting until December, will provide athletes the opportunity to register early when making decisions on club teams of various levels.  This program does not require tryouts and is open to all.

Later in the Fall, we will also announce and open registration for a girl's youth clinic (ages 8-12) and a boy's volleyball clinic.

Joining our mailing list, and following us on Facebook, are the best ways to stay in the loop about all future offerings.   If you have participated in a program during the last calendar year, you are automatically on the mailing list.

A few FAQ's on our club alternative program?

What is the club alternative program?

Simply put, it is a GIRLS program that runs for about 12 weeks which includes practices, open gyms, and mini-tournaments.  All activities are run in house by Shore Volleyball Academy in conjunction with our other Shore VB Academy site(s).  Every session is non-committal.  We run practices with those who show up, we run open gyms with those who want to participate, and we create teams for each mini-tournament based on who can attend.

We created the winter club alternative program to fill what we believed to be a gap in training for those experienced athletes who did not want the cost or commitment level of club volleyball.

What makes it different from "club teams"?

1.  The cost for this program is a few hundred vs. a few thousand for club teams.  There are no additional costs on top of our registration fee (no USAV, AAU, or JVA required memberships).

2.  Our Directors, who are also some of the top coaches in the area, fully develop the practice plan for each session.  They also the ones in charge of instituting the plan for each practice.  It would be extremely rare that one of Coach Dan, Coach Jason, nor Coach Shana are not at the practice.

3.  While teamplay is important, our focus is on individual skill development to take back to your HS teams.

4.  There is no required commitment.  While you cannot get better if you do not attend, an individual athlete missing a practice, open gym, or mini-tournament does not impact the program.  We only ask for RSVP's for the open gyms and mini-tournaments to properly plan our 100+ potential attendees.  As this is a winter program, and one site even uses Sunday, participants can easily balance volleyball with their other sports or extracurricular activities.   The "club" season goes through the spring.

What makes it different from a usual Shore VB Academy clinic?

Many of the practices may be similar, in that we go through the learning process of skill training, skills into randomized/game-like drills, and ending with play/play-oriented, all with the emphasis on individual improvement.  We also include open gyms (to put the skills into play in an open environment) and mini tournaments (tournaments we run in house against other athletes from other sessions/locations).   In terms of one cohesive program, this is our largest program of the year.  We do host many more campers at summer camps, but each week is 100% independent from the others in the summer.

Where will the program run?

We 100% will have one practice site in Ocean County(Sunday Practices) and one in Monmouth county(Thursday Night Practices).  We are exploring opportunities for additional sites.

What does the program cost?

The exact cost will be determined when the program is created, but the program has always hovered around $400.  There is no additional cost for membership fees (our insurance is included in the cost) or gear/uniforms (a Shore VB T-Shirt is included).  Since we run our tournaments in house, there is no additional travel fees, costs, hotels, surprises, etc.
